Case 41: DSD- Digital smile design with Photoshop and Laminate Veneers Smile make over

 We have seen in few cases in my blog where I use Adobe photoshop for a 2d Design as a tool for treatment planning and patient education for discussion of smile makeovers.

Here is another typical case for a smile makeover, where the patient wanted a brighter teeth and more even teeth forms as he was a part of visual media platform. Based on his request, the occlusal analysis was carried out and the pre-op photographs and videos were taken to assess the dentition, lip dynamics and overall esthetics.


Initial phase involves the photographs and videos for assessment, following which we go ahead designing the photos in adobe photoshop. Then the communication with the patient is carried out on the same appointment as the designing might take a maximum of 15 minutes. Once the patient's inputs are taken in and once the patient is satisfied, we go ahead with calibration of the image to the real time model based on measurements. Then the actual deficit or any need for soft tissue contouring is measured and transferred on to the diagnostic model to complete the wax up.





Then an Aesthetic Pre-evaluative technique is carried out in completing a trial run of the mock up in the patient and the sequence of diagnostic photographs and videos are taken to re-assess the accuracy of the design with mock up. If any changes needed, flowable composites are used to refine the same. Once approved, we go ahead with veneer preps and the emax- CAD veneers with MT or LT blanks can be used depending on the stump shade. A try-in phase can be carried out with the use of glycerin if we do no have a try-in paste, provided there is no discoloration of the underlying stump. Final cementation protocols are carried out under rubberdam with use of Resin cement(dual cure) and occlusion is re assessed.
