Case 30: Smile Make over- Digital Smile Design using Photoshop and Complete execution of the case
Smile make-overs are an integral part of cosmetic dentistry. Nowadays, with the advent of technology esthetic dentistry has taken an upper hand and the services provided from the technical and the digital field is enormous.
About two decades ago, nobody would have though that an idividual's smile can be shown digitally with just a photograph and plan the sequential treatment based on the designed photograph.
With the incorporation of 2D design introduced by Christian Coachman in keynote/powerpoint and further use of photoshop in smile designing as introduced by Edward Mclaren, gives us tremendous tools to emotional dentistry.
Here is a case where Photoshop was used in complete planning for a digital smile, communicated with the patient and on taking the approval and inputs from the patient the entire case was executed with Diagnostic mock up, running a trial run with Luxa temp and further analysing the accuracy of mock up. Once these are done, further crown preparation was carried out for full veneer crowns in this case as the patient was not economically supportive for a laminate veneer planned for 1.4 to 2.4. Hence it was planned for PFM crowns from 1.3 to 2.3 to enhance his smile along with necessary gingivoplasty.
The visual treat for this complete case are as follows.
This case was done by me at Parasu Dental Hospital, Chennai.
